Acrylic
A GAF coating system for application over existing Modified Bitumen, Metal, EPDM, TPO and PVC Roofs
2 roof applications are represented in the graphics below; Modified Bitumen and Metal.
UniBase Primer
UniBase Primer is designed to enhance the adhesion of Roof Mate™ top coats or the PremiumCoat System over approved surfaces, and as a saturant for fabric reinforcement applications. UniBase Primer also acts as an excellent asphalt bleed blocker. Unibase Primer is an easy-to-apply, cost-effective method of securing reinforcing fabric over surfaces prone to structural movement, allowing the stress to be distributed over a broader area of the roof coating system. It helps block the migration of asphaltic oils, so the United Coatings™ Roof Mate™ coating can reduce the risk of bleed-through problems often associated with conventional roof-coating systems.
Benefits
- Products can be brush, roll, or spray applied
- Meets all VOC emissions and regulations to eliminate facility downtime during installation
- Easy application and clean-up
- Excellent asphalt bleed blocker
- Low toxicity

Lock-Down Primer
Most effective on extremely rusted metal substrates!
Lock-Down Primer exhibits the unique ability to “wet” into weathered substrates, developing superior adhesion while resisting corrosive conditions, even when sound surface rust is present. Loose, flaking, or unsound rusted metal must be brought into sound condition or replaced. Lock-Down Primer is an excellent primer for use under acrylic or solvent-based roof coatings and industrial finishes.
Benefits
- Adhesion: Low viscosity allows it to penetrate and “wet” into weathered or sound rusted surfaces, imparting a tenacious chemical and physical bond between the substrate and subsequent top coat
- Weathering: After 2,000 hours of accelerated weathering exposure, coated panels showed no rust bleed, creeping, undercutting, or any deterioration along the Lock-Down Primer lines
- Salt-Spray Resistance: After 500 hours of exposure to salt spray, the sample showed only minimal blistering and slight rusting along the primer lines

Acrylex 400 Primer
Most effective on low-medium rusted metal substrates!
Acrylex 400 Primer is a water-based, medium viscosity, premium-quality acrylic primer. It is effective in enhancing adhesion over metal substrates providing protection against rust and corrosion.
Benefits
- Highly durable and provides protection against blistering
- Enhances adhesion over metal substrates
- Provides alkali protection over concrete and masonry

Roof Mate™ Fabric
Stitch-bonded polyester is one of the strongest fabrics, as it increases the long-term strength of the system. United Coatings™ Roof Mate™ Fabric is designed to reinforce large roof areas that are heavily alligatored or contain numerous cracks, seams, joints, or splits. It can be applied to asphaltic roofing, metal, concrete, wood, Hypalon®, and SPF substrates.
Benefits
- Allows the stresses of normal building movement to be spread over a wider area.
- Offers an unusual combination of high-strength properties and good elongation for excellent thermal stress resistance.
- Designed to conform to irregular and dissimilar surfaces more easily than other soft fabrics.
- Has high absorption capability, allowing it to easily wet into and become encapsulated by the acrylic coating.
- Forms tough, waterproof details or overall reinforcement.
- Very pliable.
